POCKET DOOR
VS. BARN DOOR

Both save the floor space a swinging door needs, which matters in small DMV bathrooms, laundry rooms and closets. But they work very differently. A pocket door disappears into the wall. A barn door slides along the outside of it.

POCKET DOORS: WHAT TO CHECK

BARN DOORS: WHAT TO CHECK

For bathrooms, pocket doors almost always win on privacy. For closets, pantries and home offices, barn doors are faster, cheaper and add character.
