MOUNTING A TV
OUTDOORS

Just in time for summer cookouts and football season on the porch, outdoor TVs are one of the most requested add-ons for covered patios and screened porches in the DMV. Doing it right means planning for humidity, heat, power and glare.

OUTDOOR TV OR INDOOR TV?

TV TypeWhere It WorksNotes
Full-sun outdoor TVOpen patios, direct sunBrightest, fully weatherproof, most expensive
Partial-sun outdoor TVCovered porches with some sunBest fit for most DMV porches
Indoor TVFully enclosed screened porch onlyHumidity and temperature swings shorten its life; may void warranty

DMV summers bring high humidity and heat; winters drop below freezing. An indoor TV on an open porch often fails in a season or two.
