THE BEST TIME OF YEAR
TO PAINT YOUR EXTERIOR

Exterior paint is only as good as the day it goes on. Apply it too cold, too humid or in blazing afternoon sun and even premium paint can blister, peel or dry with lap marks. In Maryland, DC and Northern Virginia, the calendar gives you two great windows and two tricky ones.

THE RULES THAT ACTUALLY MATTER

Fall is the best season and the busiest. If you want your house painted in September or October, book in early summer. Spring slots fill by late winter.

PREP WEATHER MATTERS TOO

Washing the house needs a day or two to dry before priming, and wood repairs and caulk need their own cure time. Our exterior painting prep guide walks through the full sequence, and our exterior painting cost guide covers pricing.
