BEST FLOORING
FOR DOGS

Dogs are hard on floors: claws scratch, accidents soak in, and big dogs slide on slick surfaces. The best floor balances scratch resistance, water resistance and traction, and every option trades off one of those.

WHY LVP USUALLY WINS

Rigid core LVP with a thick wear layer (20 mil or more) resists claws well, shrugs off accidents, and comes in matte textured finishes that hide scratches and give paws grip. Look for a commercial-grade wear layer if you have large or multiple dogs.

IF YOU WANT REAL WOOD

DETAILS THAT MATTER

For most DMV pet owners, we recommend a rigid-core LVP with a 20+ mil wear layer and a textured matte surface. It's the best mix of durability, comfort and price.
